Hillary Schilke

DVM, Co-Owner, & Medical Director

Dr. Hillary Schilke grew up in South Salem, New York, and Pound Ridge Veterinary Center was her family’s veterinarian when she was a child. She worked at Pound Ridge Vet as a veterinary assistant from 2000-2005 before becoming a veterinarian. Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is happy to welcome back Dr. Schilke as our new medical director and co-owner.

Dr. Schilke cannot think of a better way to spend her days than in the company of dogs and cats, especially when that means providing health and healing. She attended many schools around the globe while earning her degree in veterinary medicine. Dr. Schilke’s pre-veterinary course was attained at Fairfield University in Connecticut. The tropical region of Grenada, West Indies, was her home as she completed her first three years of veterinary school from 2000-2003 at St. George’s University. Dr. Schilke completed her final year of clinical rotations at the University of Minnesota. Since her graduation as a DVM, she has practiced veterinary medicine at several facilities in the United States prior to returning to Pound Ridge Veterinary Center.

Veterinary ophthalmology is an area of special interest for Dr. Schilke. In addition to attending several veterinary ophthalmology conferences, Dr. Schilke has worked with leading ophthalmologists across the country to expand her skill-set and is a published author in the Veterinary Ophthalmology Journal.

A lover of water sports, Dr. Schilke enjoys spending her free time paddle boarding, scuba diving, and boating, and has paddle boarded around Manhattan a few times to raise money for Autism and the environment. At home, Dr. Schilke’s colorful collection of furry children includes a Pothound named Callaloo (who was rescued from the West Indies), a French Bulldog named Jadot, a Belgian Malinois named Brugge, a black cat named Spoon, a grey kitty named Brixton Guillermo, and a rabbit named Joni Stubs.

Renee Bayha

DVM

Dr. Renee Bayha was raised in Mahopac, NY on a beef cattle farm, and her earliest memories are loving and caring for both large and small animals. From Lakeland High School, Dr. Bayha went on to earn her BS and DVM degrees from Cornell University. She completed a large animal (equine) internship at the University of Pennsylvania before joining Pound Ridge Veterinary Center. She has enjoyed a rewarding career here since 1988, and was voted one of Westchester County’s topVets in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Cornell has remained a beacon of inspiration for her since her undergraduate days.  She has co-chaired both the Development and Advisory Boards for the College of Veterinary Medicine and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Cornell University Council and on the President’s Council for Cornell Women.

Always active in our community, Dr. Bayha has volunteered her veterinary skills to care for the 25 grey and red wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, New York, since 2001. She is also an active member of the Pound Ridge Community Church serving on various committees.

Dr. Bayha lives in South Salem with her husband, Tom Gossett and their two children, Billy and Elizabeth. The Gossett family shares their home with two dogs, Henry and Dottie, and a cat named Peter George. Dr. Bayha and Henry, a talented black Labrador Retriever, have competed in AKC Hunt Tests; they have earned the highest title of Master Hunter and in 2015 qualified and competed at the Master National in South Carolina.

Christine Wilson

DVM

Dr. Christine Wilson was born and raised in the Bronx. She attended The Bronx High School of Science and received her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Cornell University. She spent many summers working at the Bronx Zoo and completed an externship there in her final year at Cornell.

She practiced on Long Island before moving to South Salem, where she joined Pound Ridge Veterinary Center. Dr. Wilson has special interests in internal medicine and cardiology. She also plans to pursue her interests in acupuncture and alternative medicine in the near future.

Dr. Wilson has been volunteering at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem since its inception and has watched it grow into a wonderful full-service facility. She is in the process of joining Cornell CAAAN, where she will be conducting informational sessions for prospective students.

Dr. Wilson lives with her husband, two children, and Hugo, their mischievous mixed-breed rescue. She loves spending time outdoors with her family, camping, hiking, swimming, and, of course, chasing Hugo!

Meghan Gallagher

DVM

Dr. Meghan Gallagher is a Veterinarian at Pound Ridge Veterinary Center. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University in 2012, and went on to complete a one year small animal rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania. Her areas of professional interest include internal medicine, dentistry, and emergency medicine. Dr.Gallagher says she loves working in the veterinary field because it allows her to combine her lifelong love of animals with her passion for medicine and science. She says the best part of being a veterinarian are the relationships she gets to form with her patients and their owners, while providing them with the best care possible.

Dr. Gallagher grew up in Danbury, CT and now resides there with her husband and two children, Lily and Barrett. When she is not providing quality veterinary care, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, and cooking. A fun fact about Dr. Gallagher is she was a competitive Irish step dancer for over 10 years!
