Should your pet require specialty diagnostics or services for serious, unusual illness or injury--such as spinal surgery or diagnostic myelograms--these services will be provided through referrals to board-certified specialists. Many specialists practice at our clinic, thereby often eliminating the need to transport your pet to specialty centers. Some procedures, however, are only available at other centers. PRVC has referral relationships with many such centers to insure your pet receives the care and treatment needed.
Hospitalization
We believe that our patients recover best at home, but sometimes accidents, surgery, or more serious illness makes overnight hospitalization a necessity. Your pet may be hospitalized for treatments such as injections, fluid therapy, dressing changes, etc.
While in our clinic, your pet will be monitored and evaluated regularly with its comfort in mind. Our staff will arrange for overnight nursing for animals requiring intensive care and monitoring. You may choose, instead, to have your pet transferred to one of three area emergency facilities for close overnight observation. These patients return to Pound Ridge Veterinary Clinic the next morning for continuing care until discharge.
Medical Boarding
Some pets have medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiac problems, or seizures, that require dally injections, special medications, special diets, or close observation. When circumstances prohibit the owners of these animals from providing care at home, PRVC offers medical boarding to meet the needs.
Conditions
Our practice treats a variety of conditions, including the following:
